Start with the areas that match your interests rather than trying to see the whole island in one day. Valletta and the Three Cities share a harbour landscape; Mdina and Rabat pair a fortified historic centre with a neighbouring town; the north and west offer beaches, viewpoints and walking routes; the south and southeast have coastal and village settings.
